Motley Store started with a simple irritation: every furniture store sells the same beige nothing. We wanted the other stuff — the burger-shaped rug, the papier mâché cat, the lamp you carry around the house like a pet. So we went and found it.
We curate rather than warehouse. Design-house icons from Norrform sit next to independent labels like Loomworks and Wondertoy — around a hundred pieces at any time, each one chosen because it made us grin, not because an algorithm said it would sell.
We're honest about where we are: Motley is a young, small shop. Today we buy most pieces through each label's retail and distribution partners; building direct relationships with the studios themselves is where we're headed, one brand at a time. Every listing is written by a person, and if we wouldn't put a piece in our own homes, it doesn't make the shop.
